THIS MONTH AT JUSTICE FOR OAKLEY
Have you checked out the latest YouTube and Podcast episodes to feature Oakley Carlson’s story? We want to thank both Kendall Rae from True Crime with Kendall Rae and Jessica Noll and Todd McComas from The Investigators for bringing awareness to Oakley’s case and being her voice. You can listen and/or watch the episodes by clicking on the highlighted links above.
The Oakley Carlson Reward Fund is continuing to raise money for a reward for information leading to the whereabouts of Oakley. This 501(c)3 non-profit organization was founded by the loving family and friends of Oakley and it is registered in Washington State. The organization has currently raised $86,000+ for her reward. The goal is to get this amount to $100,000 by the end of the calendar year. If you are interested in donating please visit the Go Fund Me page here.
In lieu of the reward not being claimed or extended, the funds would then be used at the discretion of Jamie Jo and Erik Hiles. Examples include: service and headstone, if necessary, a college fund, a scholarship in Oakley’s name, a trust fund for Oakley’s siblings, etc. THANK YOU to those who have donated!
Update on Jordan Bowers ID Theft Trial
On August 7, 2023, Jordan Bowers appeared for her Sentencing Hearing after taking a plea deal for the three counts of identity theft in the first degree and one count of identity theft in the second degree. Judge Katherine Svoboda sentenced Bowers to 43-months, which is the top end of the sentencing range and more time than the 36-month plea deal Bowers had agreed to. Judge Svoboda then stated, "She targeted vulnerable victims. She took advantage. She really has not in any meaningful way taken responsibility so it merits a sentence at the top of the standard range. It's all the court can do. 43-months followed by community custody of 12 months." Also during the hearing, Bowers did not agree to the restitution amount of $26,850.58 requested by the prosecutor to pay the victims. A hearing to address this will be held at a later date.
